FX-6300 overclock on M5A97 EVO R2.0 high voltage!!??

Hey guys!

I need some help/advice! I'm trying to overclock my FX-6300 on M5A97 EVO R2.0 motherboard, with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 air cooler. My other specs are HD7870 gpu, 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz and Cooler Master G500 psu. I'm now trying to achieve a stable 4.5 Ghz with the folowing bios settings:





My concern is that I had to set my vcore voltage to 1.493v, because on lower voltages I got red screen death while playing Battlefield 4. I cant stress test the cpu with prime, because it goes above 62°C, so basically I use Bf4 as a stress test. Cpu temperature on idle is around 33°C, while gaming max 50-52°C. What am I doing wrong? I've seen similar overclocks on much less voltages... Is something wrong with my bios settings? And should I be worried about this high voltage? Can I damage my cpu with it? I would be really grateful for any help! Thanks!

That board is a poor overclocker due to it's poor power and thermal design.

I know its not the best board for overclocking, with its 970 chipset, but i thought it could achieve this oc. Thats why I bought the EVO with 6+2 power phase, and not the simple R2.0 version. Plus I set a fan on the northbridge to decrease temps.
I also thought about setting the LLC extreme, but I was really not comfortable with the high voltage peaks.
But anyway, if I just can't reach this oc on lower voltages, is it safe to leave it on this voltage??? Isn't it high? Will it damage my cpu/board?

Okay, with 1.493 it's still not stable so I'm calling it off.... I set it back to 4.4Ghz and 1.456v. I guess this is the maximum speed I can reach with this rig.

I tried that guide before, but I couldn't reach 4.5Ghz below 1.5v, so I stick with 4.4Ghz. I won't buy a new mobo just to win a little more performance, It's perfectly fine for me, anyway. But thanks for the link, it might help someone!

No worries bro, you don't need to buy a new mobo to achieve higher clocks as you said you are getting higher temps like 62 which is peak safe temp for that chip, you just need to buy a new cooler like Noctuna nh-D14 which is cheaper than buying a new 990 board which can run higher clock speeds at lower voltages keeping your temps low. So, either way.
