I have a computer that has an HDMI extension cable. One TV works perfectly on the HDMI extension cable, but the other one doesn't work on the HDMI extension cable, although it works perfectly when hooked up directly to the computer.

Could someone give me some advice to get the TV to work on the extension?

It should treat the cable as one long cable, the only reason it wouldn't is if there is too much attenuation (loss of power) from either device to recognize when they're connected. You may want to try blowing out the cable connectors as well as the ports on each device with some canned air or even swab them with a q-tip with some isopropyl alcohol to clean them out.

One TV works on the extention, the other doesn't. The one that doesn't work on the extension is a brand new Sony TV (I just opened it up out of the box so I doubt there is dust, etc, but I will blow it out), and it works when plugged directly into the computer via a shorter HDMI hookup.

Have you tried different hdmi ports on the tv to see if they all do it? Also when you have it plugged in with the extension do you check the device manager or you screen resolution page to see if other monitors are detected at all?

The TV isn't acknowledged in device manager or screen resolution control panel.

I've tried both hdmi ports. I've restarted the computer with the TV attached. I've plugged and unplugged when the computer was on.

I just don't understand why this TV won't work with the extension.

I have a $300 mining card that I will try to see if that works....it's just going to take time as I have to take it out of one computer and install it in another....

Sucks that a cheap tv works and the better one doesn't.
