First of all, thanks to anyone that can help!!!

I bought a Turtle Beach Headset recently for the pc game DayZ, thing is I get serious headaches after a while with it, or any headset really. I wanted to know if there is a way to hook up just a Microphone in the mic jack to work and just use my TV's speakers (pc is hooked up to my plasma) That way I dont have to wear the dang thing the whole time especially since I dont talk that often with this game.

Also if it is possible what are some good Mic only products to look for?

Also, if this is in the wrong area please let me know? it has to do with games but figure theres prolly a better spot to place this question.

Thanks Again!!!

That's fine. I just did a quick test to make sure. As long as nothing is plugged into the headphones jack and your TV is your default sound set, you can just use a microphone. As for mic only products, you could try any desk stand mic. Even cheap 10 dollar stands have decent quality. If you want something with a little less background noise, get an extension stand or a boom rig. Normally you can find an average rig for about 100 bucks which would have a mic with a filter to reduce pop noise.

thanks for the reply bud. I will look into those for sure. I also wondered if I just plugged the mic plug into the mic jack on my pc if people would heat me. My turtle beach headset was labeled for ps3, but works on pc. It had a USB plug and a headphone jack, which i believe is for the mic since it works being plugged into the mic.

Sorry if that was confusing lol

Thanks Again!!!

Blue Mic and Audio Technica make great microphones. If you had a budget of around 50$ the Snowball is a great choice. If you would spend 150$, the AT 2020 and the Blue Yeti is a great choice. But all of those mics are usually used by youtubers so if you're just casually gaming go with a cheap desktop mic you could pick up for 10-20$

Just a note for your issues with wearing a headset. I have issues as well with almost every headset. After my old ones broke I bought 3 before returning them all. I ended up getting an actual pair of professional headphones that I can literally wear ALL day. They were expensive at $200, but will last forever. They were Beyerdynamics DT770 Pro 80 ohm headphones. I just bought a cheap Zalman clip-on mic. They are by far the best feeling headphones I have ever worn ever. Just a thought for you. The gaming headphones are all pretty cheap, even the expensive ones. I think the plastic framed headphones put way to much pressure on my head. These are a metal frame and put far less pressure and have replaceable velour pads. The joke is I call them lambaphones, since the Guitar Center guy promised I wouldn't return them as they are like small lambs sitting on my ears.

Like jay said, headphones for professional use are great. I actually use the ATH M50 with the ModMic 3.0. Bt since you only need the mic the zalman zm mic 1 could do, its only 8$ and you could just clip it into your clothes or cable. For 10-50$ you could just get a regular desktop mic or you could get the Blue Snowball which you could get for around 60$ now on Amazon. If you would like a mic to mount in your headphones go with the ModMic.
