So I re-installed Windows 7 ultimate on my MSi GT-70 2OD.
4700mqx
GTX780
16GB of ram
128GB corsair SSD
750GB WD black

And when I reinstalled it, I had some problems, Right after I installed AVAST and the intel driver for the integrated graphics, The boot time TOOK FOREVER. Around 8 minutes. Found out it was hanging on a avast drive file "aswRvrt.sys i think) so I uninstalled avast (which I have never had the problem before) and then it went away, the computer booted in a normal speed (which is right at 9 seconds. I have gotten spoiled of the quick boot ups). So then I installed microsoft security essentials and now, the computer does it again, but it doesn't hang on anything. When I click the Boot information box in MSCONFIG, to see what the OS is loading, it loads everything great, and then just sits at a screen that says "Microsoft windows. Version blah blah blah copy right. kernal balh blah blah." then the logon screen. But here is the thing that stumps me, it only happens EVERY OTHER boot up.

I don't understand, one time it will boot in like 7~9 seconds, perfect just like it allways has, and then sometimes it takes about 10 minutes.
LITERALLY

Should I un-install MSE?
I have the timeout to only 3 seconds.
and I have a VERY limited boot up, most everything is disabled, simply because I do not use it.

Ahh help me out here, my OCD is kicking in and a I can't stand it when It takes FOR EVER.

No logs by the way, nothing crashes.

seems like you make a conclusion about installing an antivirus makes your pc boot longer than usual.

have you try running your pc without any antivirus for like 1 week or so, just to monitor if its really the antivirus.

and when does your pc takes forever to load? in motherboard screen or in windows loading?

Actually I re-installed windows, and I actually found out, that its the Graphics driver.
The intel HD graphics 4600 driver causes my computer to boot FOREVER.

Its not the BIOS, its the OS, and windows loads all the drivers and then just sits at a screen that reads what it is, or the hard drive doesn't do anything.

I don't understand. This has never happened before and I have reinstalled windows lots of times, I have re installed windows several times within the few hours, trying older and newer drivers and they all have the same effect. Makes windows takes forever to boot.

I don't understand, I used the original drivers from the disk, and now it only boots really slow every other boot cycle. I don't understand. Everything is the same from my last setup, why is windows being stupid?

I may have had a similar issue, where i ended up re-installing Windows, but instead of taking forever to boot, W7 would be unstable.. it's mostly due to a combination of processor and PSU.

I keep thinking it might be a hardware problem or that maybe something didn't go quite right when you did another re-installation. Might i ask why you re-installed Windows? I used to do it with W98 and XP when i noticed my OS would act glitchy but later on i found it to be pointless considering i would continually run into the same problems. Anyway temps are all good, hard drive in stable condition? You do have the proper drivers for the SSD as well? Maybe the SSD doesn't like the excessive re-installations.

The only thing i can think of at the moment is to just do another re-installation. Make sure your only installing one thing at a time because sometimes if your installing too much at once things could go wrong, that's my best advice.

Edit: Also make sure that all your connections is secure for your internals. Sometimes those connections can come loose & if one of your hard drives (or optical drives) is acting up, Windows will hang sometimes. I have had that happen where a hard drive is spinning but not working correctly and i have to restart. I think it's because of the PSU not working properly, you may want to check that out if everything else looks good.

The PSU and battery are all fine. All connections are fine seeing as they can't go anywhere.
I was re installing simply to re organize. every two months or so, I just like to take inventory and clean out all the crap I don't need.
And I have re-installed it now, 5 times.
And everything goes great until I install the Intel driver.
and then when I do that, it just simply takes forever, and the computer isn't doing anything, it just sits there, no drivers being loaded, no services being started, just sits.

I just don't understand, ahhhh

I wouldn't install the Intel driver then, it could be that another update is conflicting with the Intel driver. The only thing tha[strike][/strike]t changes is when you do a clean installation is that you will most likely receive the latest updates and that's probably before or after you install Windows updates. You could try to install the Intel driver first (make sure internet is off) and try updating the intel driver first if you can. The other option is to see if there is an update for your driver, instead of installing the one you have, grab it off the internet instead.

You might benefit by doing a clean installation, update everything do whatever cleaning maintenance and then back up your OS partition. That way next time when you do a clean install, just use your back up, update then back up your OS partition again. It's not starting from scratch but it's still starting with a clean slate where as if your PC was only obtaining updates and nothing more. Even if it's just Windows updates which i think no matter what i think Windows update will update the same way as if you had the PC in the beginning, unless someone can prove otherwise.

I actually have windows updates turned off because of bad experiences from windows XP and the automatic updates BRICKING everything I own. Its just the normal, release 7 disk, no updates.
I reinstalled AGAIN, and of course the intel driver shits on its self, so now I am actually going to try and update it, and see what happens.

I have tried 4 different versions of the intel driver and it just does the same thing, I would say screw it, but If I want any kind of battery life, I have to have it installed because if I don't, Nvidia's optimus will just keep the GTX780 running and kills my battery.

Well sounds like you have had bad experiences then. Did you try to install the intel driver first? It seems particularly odd that you are not doing any Windows updates and something all of a sudden causes your system to malfunction. You never used the Windows updates at all? Something has to be causing this, have you tried installing without having your hard drive present? Just the SSD?

Well this is the third 'CYCLE' of the matrix...I mean clean installs I have done. The last two times I have done the same thing, used the same disks, with the same drives and everything has went smooth, so I have no idea.

The intel driver is installed, along with everything that I usually have done. except now I have "Updating Windows" taking gosh knows how long to just bring the OS up to date.

Everything works great, no crashes, no slow downs no nothing.
Accept it takes longer than a kidney stone to pass when booting up.

So I just rebooted my computer and it took right at 11 minutes to start.
Jesus H .Christ, Why?
Why does it take so flippin long?
and windows update just made it worse,
Now my random fast boots no longer happen.
Now it ALWAYS starts slow.
Maybe I should ask for another disk.

Is there a log somewhere to check and see if I can read and see what started does for 10 minutes of my life?

I looked at the event viewer and its clean as a whistle. Darn it.

Oh, also Windows Update trashed my computer like I had thought.
It was stuck on a BSOD loop at the logon screen saying "installing updates"
I reverted back before the updates and now Explorer isn't responding, so updates is a NO GO.

I have a friend with a completely different disk, I am going to ask to use it.
Maybe something happen to my disk and its messed up now....

And I would go and ask intel but I really think its my fault not theres. Because I have used the drivers before with no problems at all.

Yeah i don't get how Windows update doesn't even work for you, the only time it ever causes problems is generally with one update which MS should have removed. Yeah try a different disk and see how that goes. I don't know any software but i'd also check out your SSD to make sure it's functioning properly.
