Weird buzzing noise ONLY while gaming?

Hello,
I noticed a weird noise coming from my computer, it's hard to pin-point exactly where, i'm assuming it's the GPU, it could also be the CPU. The unusual part is that it happens only when I'm playing intense games, such as Guild Wars 2. If I tab out of the game to the desktop, it stops immediately, and when I tab back into the game, it also starts again immediately. I'm not sure why it's doing it or how to fix it. Please help!

Note-worthy System Specs:
Asus Maximus VI Hero Motherboard
Intel i7 4770k OC'd @ 4.4ghz
EVGA Geforce GTX 660ti
Coolermaster Silent Pro 720w PSU

Since it only occurs while gaming (intensive games) the answer must be the GPU! Was it always like that, or it randomly started happening now? Try to listen carefully (you may want to open your case for this) and see if it really is..... also if you're planning on buying a new GPU I would seriously aprove, cause that system deserves a GTX 780(ti) :) , of course money is...................

@ Spectre: It's not my monitor, I have a duel monitor setup, and the sound is definitely coming from my PC case.
@ JP7PlaysMC: I'll listen closely for it and try and pin point it to my GPU. It just started happening after I upgraded my rig. I put in the new mtherboard and CPU (listed above). I recently moved location (in game) from a main city to a calmer area, and the buzzing noise reduced. Is that supporting the fact that it's the GPU that is going?

I opened the case up and listened for it while the game was running. It's really hard to pin point it because my GPU is right next to my cpu!

(I upgraded that fan+heatsink now to a Coolermaster hyper 212 Evo btw)

So you moved to a calmer area and it reduced!? Definetely the GPU... But as you upgarded the CPU, meh, it might have something to it let me tell you. Consider cleaning your entire rig and then tell me if it worked!

Coil whine.
A problem typicall to GPUs and PSUs, quite uncommon with mobos however. Also all 3 components can have effect on the other 2, so for example a gpu that whines in one pc can be silent in another.
In this case it seems the new mobo is the main culprit. You could run something CPU intensive like Prime95 or some other cpu stress test to make sure if it is the coils in the VRMs feeding the cpu or just some unlucky effect the mobo is having on the GPU... If the mobo whines under cpu load you could probably return it and have it changed.

The entire PC is clean, when I installed my new CPU and fan/heatsink, I made sure to blow it out with compressed air.

It doesnt seem to be my CPU, it seems to only happen with i'm running graphically intense games. Is this common for a GPU such as a 660ti (it is relatively old, couple years). If I were to upgrade to a brand new GPU, would the coil whine stop? Thanks for your response

it's a draw of luck really, the whine isn't harmfull or anything, merely annoying... It can happen with brand new cards as well so age of the card has nothing to do with it. My own old 5770 whines in certain games, most often in menus etc when the fps hit some stupid high numbers like several thousands, but also during gameplay in a game or two. And curiously enough in most intense games it remains silent... (edit well not silent, the fan gets pretty darn loud :DD)
