Hello so i've just finished putting together a system and i am having trouble finding where to install the 2 80mm fans in both side panels of the zalman z11 plus case. Is it possible that there is no more room on the z87 extreme4 mobo? I've installed an additional 120mm fan on the top.

If someone could point out where the 4 pin molex goes that would be great.

There is usually only one case fan header on motherboards so you probably wont be able to connect them there.
But there may be a molex adapter for those two fans in the accessories you got with the case.

If not you could pick one up for very little money.

hi Tulser,
The power lead coming from your cpu will have 4 pin molex on it , you can power any additional case fans with this by a getting a molex to
3 or 4 pin fan adaptor , you can also get fann splitters , a lead that will turn one 3pin fan header into two or 3 or 4 , there are also fan power boards that plug ino a molex
here are a few examples

Sorry my mistake!
I just checked out your mobo's manual and you do actually have 3 chassis fan headers on the mobo! As a matter of fact you also have a Power fan header and two CPU fan headers. Honestly, I have never seen so many fan headers on a mobo before.
If you check out the mobo layout in your manual, there is one fan header (26.CHA_FAN1) at the bottom along side the USB headers. And the other two are in the center between CPU and back panel (2.CHA_FAN2, 31.CHA_FAN3).
So you can connect a total of three Chassis fans on the mobo without the use of any adapter.

I've been running this system for 3 days without the two side panel 80mm fans, everything is running great so far. Would it matter if i didn't use these 2 side panel fans?

I dont think removing the two 80mm fans would make a huge difference as they dont push a large volume of air
if you are curious disconnect the fan cables leave them on the panel and see how your temps go, if no probs with temps then remove them

If you're happy with the temps leave them off, no biggie.
It will probably be allot quieter too.

i have the z11 myself and i must admit the two side panel fans are pretty much just there to suck up power and make noise. theyre meant to exhaust hot air from the hard drive area but if you only only use one or two hard drives there is no need to have them there. i removed mine after around a month of having them installed.

but really all the stock fans with the z11 plus suck lol :D
