Windows 8 Pro upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro cost?

Hi,

I am currently running Windows XP as will be migrating as the support is ending. I want to purchase Windows 8 pro, which can be seen by following this link, http://www.bestbuy.com/site/windows-8-pro-upgrade/1308085676.p?id=mp1308085676&skuId=1308085676#tab=overview. First, can I use this software and go from Windows XP to Windows 8 pro? Second, is the upgrade from Windows 8 pro to Windows 8.1 pro free? If what I am wanting to do will not work, I am open to suggestions... Please.

So yes, you can mostly upgrade from XP to Win 8. You will almost certainly need to reinstall all of your applications and data. Have all of your personal daya copied elsewhere and offline during the 'upgrade'.

However, I would recommend a full install rather than trying to 'upgrade'.
It will probably work, though.

The 8 Pro to 8.1 Pro is free, from the Store.

Thanks! Both the link and your information was very helpful. I will be installing it onto a new SSD hard drive. I have decided not to go with pro.
