Hey there,

I'm building my first computer, and a friend suggested I check out some of the Newegg DIY sets. I've been looking at this guy: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1544109

However, the same friend is really into Asus motherboards, and suggested I go with one. I really like everything about this combo, but the motherboard didn't get great reviews: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128594

Would you recommend trying to substitute that board out for something different? Does anyone know anything about that board in particular? I'm obviously a complete noob in all of this, so any advice is appreciated.

Thanks much,
Gabe

I'm not sure what you're asking. Should you get a kit? Well yea if you want that exact computer exactly as they have it I guess it makes sense to get the kit and save 95 dollars. But just shopping around you could probably get the exact same components for less. Whats more if you are willing to make a few substitutions you can get a similar if not better build for less money. The case for example, 180 dollars is a LOT of a cheap, steel\plastic mid tower. It's the kind of case you can pick up for like 60 bucks at any computer store; even doubling that because it has the corsair logo on it doesn't come close to 180. The memory, you can get better memory for 20 dollars less from new egg itself, and that's assuming you even need 16gb which you probably don't. So you can save anywhere from 20-90 right there. I'm not going to go through the whole thing, you get the idea.
If your asking just about the motherboard, not sure what you mean, you ask about ASUS but then link a Gigabyte board.
