Sapphire AMD/ATI Radeon R9 270 with Boost OC 2 GB DDR5
Sapphire AMD/ATI Radeon R9 270x with Boost OC 2 GB DDR5
NOTE: Say the one that well suits both (no SLI or crossfire) the above GPUs..
I'm undergoing a little research and confused abt processors! Just consider I'm at the initial stage of PC build and starting with those GPUs, next CPUs.. No MOBOs, no monitor res, no PSU, etc etc RAM = Corsair Vengeance DDR3 8 GB (2x4GB) RAM (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9R)

Intel's naming convention has the "k" added to the names of processors that have unlocked multipliers. They are the only ones with the unlocked multipliers. All other Intel processors that do not have the "k" in the name have locked multipliers and cannot be overclocked (technically). In order to use the "k" processors, the correct motherboard must be used. For the 1150 socket, the Z87 chipset is the only chipset that supports unlocked processors. All other chipsets (B75, H81, H87) do not posses the ability to overclock.
So, you can purchase a Z87 motherboard with a non-k CPU. It will work. But the common consensus is it's a waste of money or pointless if a "k" processor isn't purchased. The same theory is applied to H87 and a "k" processor.
Edit: Now you see why we asked about the motherboard you have. As for the cheapest CPU, i5 4440.
