i'm in quite a confusion, should i get opt for a EVGA GeForce GTX 770 ACX 2 GB GDDR5 over a PowerColor R9 290 4GB GDDR5 OC or vice versa?
, they are practically the same price...

what psu should i get for such GPUs. i own a corsair modular cx500m and i'm not sure that my psu will be able to handle a GTX 770 or the R9.
are these GPUs too much for 1080p single monitor,or should i get a lower GPU?

thanks

Solution
1. Absolutely the GTX 770. Better price for performance, reliability, cooling, and EVGA's warranty is better (if I remember correctly). For a single GPU, shoot for around 550-600 watts. That card will be perfect for a single 1080p monitor.

At that price range, get Nvidia components for stability, reliability, performance, and life. If you are in the price range of a 290, get a 780 for best performance. Also, if you want Nvidia Shadowplay you are going to need an Nvidia card. (I mentioned this just in case.)

They are only too much if you don't want to turn up graphical details, don't want to use full-on anti-aliasing and don't want to run at 60fps+ for most titles.

prices of the gpu here are really expensive :
EVGA GeForce GTX 770 ACX 2 GB GDDR Price: Rs 16,197($514)
EVGA GeForce GTX 770 Dual Superclocked ACX 4 GB GDDR5 Price: Rs 19,095($626)
EVGA GeForce GTX 780 ACX 3 GB GDDR5 Price: Rs 24,070($789)
EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Superclocked 3 GB GDDR5 Price: Rs 22,862($749)
EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3 GB GDDR5 Price: Rs 29,383($963)
EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti Superclocked 3 GB GDDR5 Price: Rs 30,349($995)

PowerColor Radeon R9 290 OC 4 GB GDDR5 Rs 18,515($607)
PowerColor Radeon R9 290X OC 4 GB GDDR5 Price: Rs 22,862

the PowerColor Radeon R9 290 OC 4 GB GDDR5 & EVGA GeForce GTX 770 ACX 2 GB GDDR are practically the same. Palit gpu are much cheaper but i'm not too confident on their reliability...

The GTX770 needs 42a on the +12v rails; the CX500 can deliver 38.
You will need something stronger.
The R9 is an overclocked card and needs slightly more than the GTX770.
I would look for Seasonic or XFX as generally better quality units in the 650w range.

If your budget permits, go for it, I would pick the GTX770 based on cooler/quieter running.
I have rarely regretted paying more for a good graphics card, and have often regretted paying less for a budget card.

Even if your cpu is a limiter, you will enjoy more eye candy and smoother gameplay.

Ouch. Pricing on the 780s is much different in the US. The R9 290 does have the runt/dropped frame fix implemented at the hardware level, so that's a positive, but based on my past experience with AMD drivers (1,2, or 3 card setups), I'm not very trusting of AMD drivers.

As a result, I'd recommend the GTX770.
