silverlight problems Windows 8

Every time I try and install microsoft silverlight it comes up saying the file is corrupted. I've had no problems with it before but now my PC is running really slow and keeps telling me there is a SSL connection problem when I try and load web pages. Ive tried uninstalling silverlight and re installing it but once it was uninstalled it wouldn't re install.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Try running a system file check to see if there is any OS corruption. You will need to go to the start page and type "cmd" with out the quotations. Then right click on the command prompt and run as administrator. Once that window is up type "sfc /scannow" with out quotations. It might take a minute to run. If it finds any errors try restarting and running again up to a total of 3 times. If it is really bad and finds errors each time you may need a repair install or fresh install of windows.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios.

C:\Windows\system32>
