This will be my gaming workstation. I would have gone with AMD, but I would have had to pay more for a good board to overclock. I call it best of both worlds, because the black and blue scheme with gold accents is aesthetically pleasing and it has some really good parts for the price.

I have 8GB of G.Skill RipJaws 1333 at home already.

Im guessing PcPartPicker hasnt completely updated, because its showing that some of the parts are more expensive than they really are. These are Newegg prices:

Thermaltake A31 - $69.99
Hanns-G 16' monitor - $69.99
Rosewill Capstone 550-m - $84.99
AsRock Extreme3 - $114.99
PNY XLR8 120GB SSD - $69.99
Xeon 1245v3 - $289.99
SEVGA Superclocked GXX 760 - $249.99
Total after shipping costs: $950.92

Im basically getting a 4770k w/o the the overclocking. No brainer there. Im not much of an overclocker, but I have a z87 board here just in case I decide to upgrade later.

Solution
Everything looks good. With the Intel i7-4770K and a Z87 motherboard, you really can't go wrong. The CPU may be slightly pricier, but it is definitely worth it especially for memory intensive users.

DDR3-1333 works great, but in the future you can definitely look into upgrading with a high frequency to gain some performance. DDR3-2133 or DDR3-2400 is a nice point.

Thank you

8 is fine since I dont do a lot of crazy effects in my projects. I have 8 in my current system. I just make them look crisp. The system Im building will allow me to use Quick Sync for rendering and streaming as well.

Im a bit strapped for cash at the moment. $950 is the max I can spend. If I go with the 4770k, I could drop my GPU down to a 270x or 660, but I'd have to keep the 4770k's stock fan. No matter what I end up going with, in 3-6mo, I'm upgrading to 16gb of 1600 and adding a second card.

WOAH. Intel realized that the 4770k wasnt OC'ing as well as the 3770k and dropped the price by $40 on Newegg. Guess who's getting a 4770k? THIS GUY. And going with the 270x + 4770k actually dropped my total by $5. Awesome! Now, I just wish I could find a black and blue board for under $120 that had blue accents. I wanted to go with this board so bad: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130697 but it doesnt have quick sync :(
