ADDING 2X2 GB G SKILL 1066 STRIPS TO MY EMPTY SLOTS ON AMD PHENOM 2X4 BOARD.Do I need to update anything or just plug in and

Have amd athlon 2x4 620-2.60 ghz and amd phenom 2x4 with Dual ddr2 1066 with two slots ddr2 empty.cant tell if phenom is 920.It says black series.Would like to add 2X2 GB G SKILL 1066 STRIPS TO OTHER TWO SLOTS.Do I need to do anything other than shutdown,add strips,and then restart system. thks

Just plug it in and you're good to go. You would only have to configure things in the bios, like overclock settings and multi-channel settings if you made changes to them.

I would pull one of the old RAM sticks to get the info like the brand and model, if you can get the same thing or something with the same specs. That way the system will run smoother.

You need to input settings for the G.Skill RAM. Are you replacing the original modules? Make sure you have the latest BIOS.

I suggest setting the memory to DDR2-800 tCL 4 - tRCD 4 - tRP 4 - tRAS 12 , DRAM Voltage 2.0V for optimal performance.

Mixing RAM can be hit or miss, so it may be better to get two kits for 8GB and run them at the performance specifications.

I dont know which one.I see the board but dont know how to decipher model.I only know what my system says such as the athlon 2x4 650 but the phenom just says 2x4.
