I am preparing to upgrade my desktop. I need 4 monitors at build time, and the ability to add more down the road. I have one USB to HDMI converter.

I am considering buying the Xeon E3 1245 V3, instead of a Core i7 4770 (I do not plan to overclock anything and the price just fell to $60 cheaper). I had also considered the 1230 V3, without the integrated graphics, but to keep things simple I think I would prefer to get the 1245 with the IGP, use the 3 displays that are supported by the motherboard, and then be able to add displays later without giving up the ones already in use.

I was about to buy the Asus H87 PRO mobo, but somene mentioned they thought I needed to go with a Z87 chipset if I want to keep the hybrid multi-monitor ability.

Does anyone here know if I can use the H87?
