WEI - Could not measure processor performance

To put it quickly,

I upgraded to a FX-8120 from a Phenom II 960T and when I had the Phenom, WEI would do the whole test and then give me results, since putting in my FX it just goes into the "Assessing windows media encoding performance" and then stops and I get this error:

Any way to fix this because it's really bugging me quite a lot and I really want to redo it with my new CPU.

try this: run command prompt as admin then type sfc /scannow then try again

I tried that but it didn't work, I got "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations" so I tried again and still didn't work! Also another thing I noticed was that when I download or install something via a program eg. GPU drivers, the bar doesn't move and it just stays at 0% @ 0kb/s but the bar at the bottom left of it went up.

Try to repair windows, if you didn't reinstall it after your upgrade.

I did re-install windows afterwards, now I get an error about video playback instead of the processor one

have you ran and installed WMP? This is the most likely solution

Here are some things to check before running the Windows Experience Index (WEI).

- Quit all running programs and reboot the computer before running the (WEI) assessment.
- Check with the computer manufacturer or motherboard manufacturer for any BIOS updates.
- Check to make sure you have the latest Windows 7 compatible drivers for the installed Graphics Device (Video Card).
- If you have any third party media players installed, uninstall them until the WEI assessment is complete.
- If you have installed any third party media Codecs, try uninstalling them until the WEI assessment is complete.

Open Windows Explorer and go to the C:\WINDOWS\Performance\WinSAT folder.

You should see the following 8 video files.

2 files with the .mp4 file extension.

3 files with the .mpg file extension.

3 files with the .wmv file extension.

Double click each of these files. They should open and play in Windows Media Player. These are the files that the WEI runs to assess the Video Performance.

I reset all the BIOS settings and it started working fine, thanks for the tips guys, I had the latest version already, I just restored default settings must have kept them from my old cpu.
