I am deployed and use a local ISP router. It does not have an antenna attached. The router is not hardwired to a network through a modem it gets is signal wireless. What type of antenna should I get to maximize the routers wireless reception?

The model of the router is

HUAWEI B683 3G Router

I am assuming you mean you want to increase your signal to the ISP not the signal inside your house. Normal WiFi antenna are pretty standard if you were to take apart the router you could likely buy cables that will attach to the internal radios and you could use pretty much any antenna.

The wireless broadband antenna is a completely different story. In most cases it is illegal to make any modifications to the antenna. Still even if you did you would have to know details like which radio bands the ISP uses in your area. The antenna must match the frequencies and they vary a lot from carrier to carrier and even sometimes in different parts of the country.

You best bet is going to be to get a device that mounts the broadband radio outside and then either broadcast the WiFI into the house or uses a cable to connect to a second device in the house. Hard to even recommend any particular device because there is a lot of dependency on the ISP and the technology they are using. The general thing you can look for is outdoor broadband CPE or outdoor broadband router.

the problem with it is, is that even if you get a better antennae you will still be piggy backed off other camp sites or L.A. we split $400 8 ways and just had one of the local nationals hook up our own dish so we werent piggy backing anymore and it worked nicely. if it isnt sniperhill and you only have paradise or bunker hill there im not to sure but you may be able to do the same thing. if they have a office on your fob/cob/camp try talking to them and see if they will hook you up. (you can also do the same thing to get AFN, they usually have those dishes/boxes laying around too)

i aint going to lie, i dont know networking hardly at all (its like chinese to me) but i do know how to get good internet down range :D
