I'm working on my first build and I'm having some super annoying problems and am starting to get pretty furstrated. I got my motherboard setup with the CPU, CPU fan, RAM, and GPU very easily and have it installed in the case but I'm having the biggest hard time getting my 24 pin cable connected to the motherboard and even to the power supply itself (because its a modular PSU)
I'm pretty much applying as much force to plug it in as I possibly can given the difficulty of getting good leverage on the cable since I basically have to hold the cables and push down. I honestly feel like if I push any harder something is going to break and its making me nervous. I've been trying to get it setup off and on since last night. I finally seem to have the longer part of the cable on the PSU side into the power supply but it never clicked or felt like it went in naturally. I had to force it in using a screw driver to apply pressure on the edge of the part of the cable that connects.

I don't know if I have a faulty cable, but I've checked and it is the right kind of cable and looks like it should be fitting into both sockets but it just won't go all the way in, it goes about 90% of the way and then won't go further.

The sata power cable went into my PSU so easily it hardly took any force I have no idea why this has to be so difficult.

Nope, the end that goes into the power supply is less pins and I have that side connected to the supply already.

I've been trying more and my fingers hurt like hell... I've tried jiggling it, pushing on one side then the other, pushing from the front or the back, etc. I could probably put a little more pressure on it if I really wanted to but the board is bending with the pressure I'm giving it and I feel like I'm just asking to break something if I give it as much pressure as I can.

Some of the metal slots in the cable now seem kind of angled instead of being perpendicular to the sides of the plastic around them. Not sure if they came this way or if its because I've been putting so much pressure on them trying to force the god damn thing in... I'm just going to keep trying because apparently for some people "breaking it in" eventually leads to it working.

PS... Here is a picture that is essentially exactly whats going on: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2ekm8ed&s=6#.Uyor-vldV8E

The plug goes in about 90% of the way and just refuses to go the last 10% and clip in.
