I'm having issues with activating my Win7 Key

Last response: in Windows 7

I recently got a new SSD, and I installed Windows to it. (I only have a key, not a Windows disc) Well, I deactivated the key on the old hard drive. It says Windows isn't genuine like it's supposed to. Now when I go to activate Windows on my SSD, it says I can't use the key. Is there any way I can fix this?

You have a valid activation key?
Windows is installed fresh on the new SSD?

What happens with activation?
Does it give an option to activate via the phone robot?

Where did you obtain the Windows key?

The key is valid, I bought it. It does give me the option to the phone robot. I freshly installed Windows from their ISO onto the SSD.

Where did you get the key?
The OS you loaded onto the SSD, is it the same version as you had? (I.e. home, pro, retail, OEM etc)

With activating windows getting a valid key may be a problem, where exactly did you buy it from. Most people on this forum prefer not to help people pirate stuff.

The key is valid, I bought it. It does give me the option to the phone robot.

Then call and do that. It will ask for a series of 6 digit segments. Read or punch them into the phone.
It will then read a series back. You plug those into the specific boxes onscreen.
It will probably then ask "How many computers is this installed on?"

After that, it should be activated.

I didn't pirate it. I bought the upgrade key from Microsoft.

Alright, thanks. I'll try this.

And 'I bought it' does not always = valid. Completely depends on where and how you bought it.
But try the phone thing.
