H100i Top Case fans touching Motherboard VRM?

i have a Z87-G45 Gaming Mobo and Corsair 300R case.
When I install the h100 radiator on top of my case the edge of the fans is touching the VRM heatsink (I think thats what its called). I circled it in yellow. It's the red/black bar that's right above the chip socket. It does however clear the ram. I can make it fit, but it's a tight fit. Is this bad?

It's hard to say because your post is a little confusing.

1) If it "fits" it shouldn't be a problem.

2) However, if you are putting pressure on the VRM's that could pull them away from the motherboard that COULD be a problem.

*Is it possible to get a FILE to shave away some of the material of the H100?

You can't even see the red part anymore cause the fans hangs over it. The edge of the fans are in contact with half of the red area and top of the black 'fingers'. I had to 'push' the radiator downwards towards the mobo so that it would line up with the holes.So there is some stress put on to the top half of the motherboard. Here are some pictures for clarification.







And also does anyone know why one of the SFC's (super-ferrit chokes) came crooked? Should I return this? I just got it today.

Hi,
1) I can't comment on the "crooked" choke. You'd have to contact the company to see if that's an issue (probably not if your PC works fine).

2) From your PICTURES it appears that the BLADES aren't touching, only the edge of the fan case. It's a hassle, but you should be able to file that down a little bit to relieve the pressure.

I do NOT recommend running things as is because the vibration might cause problems over time.

3) Not sure how you'd RETURN the motherboard since the fan issue isn't their fault. I have a similar problem and couldn't use my top fan. A different CASE would solve this issue though but you have a nice case so that's not a desirable option.

If the "crooked" component qualified a replacement you'd still get the same motherboard back.

SUMMARY:
My best advice is to file down the fan at the point of contact with that top motherboard component until there's ZERO contact. I see no reason it can't be done if you can find a suitable tool (or sandpaper).
