Alright so to start with some background I edit video, nothing too crazy usually 1080 at 30fps, I however am very impatient and expected more out of my iMac when I purchased it. Here is my thought, I know that apple qmaster allows for distributive computing in FCPX, and I know how to build a working Hackintosh. What I don't know is how exactly does qmaster render? Is it all CPU? CUDA? maybe even Open CL compatable? My plan was to build a very beefy Hackintosh to aide my iMac 27" 2013 in the heavy lifting of video editing. I am looking for input on if this will even work or build suggestions for my workhorse computer.

I suggest getting the new Mac Pro. If you make $ off of video-editing, it's a worthwhile investment, especially with those PCIe-based drives. It will likely be a better overall solution than investing time (time = $, right?) into building your own hackintosh.
