Minumum GPU for dual monitors while gaming?

Hey everyone,

I prefer to always use dual monitors but I am not sure how to calculate how much video card I need while gaming, and what the best setup is. I set the games to windowed mode / full screen in my primary monitor, and then use the second monitor for ventrilo, a browser, a movie, or whatever at the same time.

My current setup is a GT 640 1GB,8GB RAM, and a FX-6300 cpu. I play Battlefield 3 at 1600x900 resolution, with a movie on the second monitor. It doesn't run too smoothly most of the time. The max i'd be willing to spend is $250 ,but i'd like to save if i can.
Thanks for the help!

  1. I would look at a 260X, I prefer Asus cards so... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121801. It will run battlefield on high without a movie and with a movie on medium.

If you are willing to get the 760 it is a great card, in fact my friend just got the card and is loving it. It will max battlefield 4 at 1080p so at 900p it will handle it extremely well.
