Hello, I've recently got into PC gaming and am starting to see all the upsides. Before I go and blow more money into a headset I was wondering if my Bose Q15's would work. They have a mic built in along the cord but I can't seem to get it to work on my computer. I also picked up a splitter so that I can plug one end to the green port and one to the red yet still non luck. I should note in case it helps, I'm just using the default program that came with the computer, "Realtek HD audio manager". Can someone out there help me?

Solution
The SPLITTER would work only if it's designed for those headphones. Not all headphones have the MIC portion in the same location so it might not match.

Ahhh Ok, so a splitter is the way to go then, just one for my specific brand?

How about you check in your settings. The sound>recording then make enchantment higher for the microphone boost.

Then after raising the boost. Try using something to record to see if it works

Well, thank you guys for trying to help but, I contacted Bose directly and they told me the microphone would not work on pc as it's specifically designed for ipod/iphones....

That sucks. I have a heaset with in-line microphone that works on my laptop but the mic doesn't register on my desktop where I do my online gaming. Find out the Panasonic RP-HT480C is for the iphone/Apple with its 4 rings on the input but works fine on my PC Fujitsu laptop so I am not sure what the problem is. My desktop is 2 years newer, a customized gaming desktop I got last week but doesn't seem to register the mic on the headset unless I plug it into the mic input.
