Have an ACER ASPIRE 5315. When trying to boot, get message... "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation."

You need to restart the installation make sure there are no devices such as usb or anything else connected during the process.

Thank you for your response. All I had plugged in was the charger. I just unplugged it and tried but no luck. I have rebooted with the repair disc in, with the disc out then installing disc, rebooted with all 3 safe modes. can't even get to the restore screen any more. Am at a loss. Think I will cut my losses and buy a new computer.

I REALLY WONDER IF I HAVE THE CORRECT HARD DRIVE! IT WAS ONE OF THE CHOICES WHEN I ORDERED IT BUT IT HAS MORE GB....500 VS 80

put the HDD information on here. But that shouldn't be an issue if it recognized it at first. You could go into the Bios and load defaults and see if that helps. the Charger needs to be plugged in while you are installing the OS.
