Ok, I'll keep this short and spare you the details of how I got to this point ...

I have a Toshiba Satellite that has no operating system on it (originally it had Windows 7 64 bit). It was wiped clean via a Toshiba reformatting utility.

I'm trying to install Windows 7 from a disc I purchased, but am receiving error messages at the point where I am asked where I want to install it.

Windows Installation will not let me install Windows 7 on ANY partition.

I have 5 partitions, labeled as:
Disk 0 Partition 1: System OEM (reserved)
Disk 0 Partition 2 System
Disk 0 Partition 3 MSR (Reserved)
Disk 0 Partition 4 Primary
Disk 0 Partition 5 OEM (Reserved)

No matter which partition I choose, I receive the error "Windows cannot be installed to Disk ## Partitiion ##. (Show details).

For Partition 2, this is the detail after I click "Show details"
"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style.
Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. The partition is an EFI system partition (ESP)."

I get similar details for all 5 partitions.

I'm thinking I need to repartition the disk, but how do I do that without an operation system on the hard drive? I have no disks from Toshiba, by the way.

Thanks!

Jeff

Solution
There are options to do that at the beginning of windows install. Select the system and OEM reserved partitions and delete them, then create a new partition and format it if you want and then install windows. Windows will create both new OEM reserved and system partitions. The install windows on the newly created partition.
