I am just getting into computers and need some help. I bought the HP pavilion 500-054 recently and love the computer, except some games require a better graphics card to look and run better. I want to add a card but I do not know where to even begin. How do I determine what cards are compatible with my PC?

^ my current computer.

Thank you in advanced for any help.

I had a quick look at your PC specs and it seems your PSU (power supply unit) is 300W and probably made by some unknown manufacturer.
This limits your upgrade options as most graphics cards nowadays require a more powerful PSU.

This said the recently released GTX 750 and GTX 750Ti cards from nVidia could work on your computer as according to nVidia they only require a 300W PSU.

So on theory they "should" work but you will have to do the upgrade "at your own risk".

Hope it helps.

you will have to get a better psu even with a new gpu with the gtx750 your psu it is at is maximum limit ,also this is a hp model so i would take all the size specs for a new psu if it is too big it wont fit and does it have some kind of proprietary connector on the motherboard ,you could post details of the psu that in the system like name and model . this Dimensions: 150mm x 140mm x 86mm (5.9 x 5.5 x 3.4 inches)
