ok here's a rundown. dell xps 15 9530. its got a i7-4702hq, 16gb ram, 1tb hdd with 32gb ssd, gt750m, windows 8.1 and touchscreen (high res. 3800x1900 approx.).

THE PROBLEM:
got 2 games, battlefield 4 and crisis 3. both set to the lowest settings, including setting the resolution to 1280x720 on both games. it plays awesome at first, smooth fps like butter.

1. then the frame rate goes to hell after a couple minutes or less, it varies wildly, its so bad that I cannot play it at times, then it will clear up after a minute, this all happens whether im blowing or chopping something up or just standing there, and then go bad again, back and forth.

2. I get low memory alarms that tells me to close out programs in the background or close the game or it will lose memory, which the only thing I have running is origin, and the game, mind you this ALL happens in campaign mode as well as multiplayer.

3. ive had the laptop suddenly comeup with a bluescreen saying it had some kind of kernel issue when it was new, happened 3 different times. but this has not happened in a while, maybe a month or more.

4. it gets hot.. im sure the problem is related to the heat. ive ran a monitor for the cpu and gpu, and both are running at or around 78c if not higher up to 82c. sometimes it gets hot when the laptop is on but the lid is shut and not being used.

5. from time to time, it gets a "a/c adapter not recognized"

6. it plays movies fine as long as im in range of a good Wi-Fi or internet connection, it doesn't have a dvd drive.

ive set the personalization settings to performance instead of quality.
ive set the resolution to the monitor to 1080 instead of the normal 3800x1900.
ive set the resolution in the games to 1280x720
ive set the hdd to 'disabled' on the write-cache buffering since I always have it plugged in.
ive updated everything I can think of from origin, bf4 & crisis 3, windows 8.1, punkbuster, NVidia, intel..

after writing all this down im considering that this laptop may have a cracked mother board.. any ideas? this was a replacement laptop from dell and my warranty is out, lol. thanks in advance.

Solution
gaming-wise, it's likely a heat problem. could be a defective fan or a badly applied thermal compound if you're lucky, or just really bad air flow which is the case with most mainstream notebooks.

upgrade-wise, you're not going to be able to do much. the CPU's a BGA socket offering no chance of an upgrade path, and being a high-end mainstream notebook, i reckon that 750M isn't in an MXM slot. adding more ram isn't going to amount to much either (though you may have some defective RAM. test with memtest86 for half a day or so), so you're mainly stuck with what you have.

i highly doubt it has a cracked mobo.

EDIT: if your CPU comes with integrated graphics, consider using Nvidia's optimus to disable the intel GPU, and run the 750M...

how do I do that? I went to the control panel and added the games to the list of programs the card will run, using global settings.. is that what you mean? how do I get into the optimus portion?
