I have an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC. The harddrive became corrupted and it wouldn't start anymore. I had a guy try to fix it but he said he was unable to so it sat around for about two years. One day a few months ago I was checking it and it started up but it would die again until I bought a Neo-Smart recovery disk and now it starts fine. However, I have two problems. I used to have sound and the DVD drive used to work. Now I have no sound and get a message that no audio device is installed. what happened to it and how do I get sound back? Also, now the computer doesn't recognize when I put in a CD or DVD. How do I fix that? Thanks.

Thanks for the response. However, I have no idea what the motherboard looks like or how to access it. Also, I don't understand the second suggestion. The CD/DVD drive is not a stand-alone so I don't see how I can connect it to a different sata port. One thing I should mention about the CD/DVD drive is that when I did the system recovery with NeoSmart, I did it with a USB drive. Without the USB drive in the port, it shows no CD drive. With the USB drive in, it shows CD Drive (D

It's where everything plugs in. Open the computer if you can (if it's in warranty, don't, otherwise you'll void warranty)
