I have a Compaq Model# SR5110NX with an AMD Athlon 64 processor 3800+ 2.4 GHz. I want to replace that AMD chip with an Intel chip; is that possible and which Intel chip should I get. In lieu of that I'd resort to the same processor with a duo core, the chip in mine is single core; can that be done? And again what AMD chip should I seek for that. My third thought is to overclock the AMD chip, can that be done? Thank you to any and all who respond.

Athlon 64 X2 with Dual Core technology up to 4800+ (up to 65 watt) is the fastest cpu that your motherboard supports. You can't overclock with your motherboard. You can't put an intel cpu in an your motherboard.

You would need a new motherboard as well as the CPU.

Honestly with the age of that computer I would recommend getting a new one if you want to even think about gaming. Even for simple everyday tasks it probably will fall behind.

If this is an option, let me know your budget and I can throw together a list of parts for you.
