hi, I just bought a new laptop HP HNVY 17-J005tx. it has 8GB ram Core i7 4th gen processor. INTEL HD GRAPHICS 4600 & NVIDIA GeForce 740M.
My problem is when I go into Screen resolution menu the system is only showing its built in graphic card i.e Intel. in the dedicated card it always 0mb. I try to reinstall the latest drivers from NVidia website and also from the HP website I also try to disable & uninstall drivers of both the cards but nothings changed. its still showing only intel 4600 HD graphics not the dedicated. I also try from the NVidia control panel but I dnt think my computer is using nvida instead of intel. I also try to chek in BIOS but nothing helped me.
Pls help me.

First off, only ever use drivers from HP, never from the device manufacturer. HP's drivers are custom-made for their laptops, and only HP has these custom-made drivers.

Now, your laptop's Nvidia software is able to "switch" from the superior Nvidia graphics to Intel graphics, depending on the graphics performance that's required when running a particular application.

Since more graphics power (the Nvidia chip) uses more battery power than the Intel chip, you can see why it's important to conserve power where possible when you are away from a mains power source.
