Thanks for the replies. I'm in the dark unless I see ratings stars unfortunately. I'm just not knowledgeable about RAM. See the set in my first post? The four ratings there are very good. Maybe I should just shell out $466 for that. The RAM is for 3D content creation, mainly stills. When those reviews say "Wowee really fast!" is it really a noticeable difference, like for my case using 3DS Max, Maya, etc?

edit: btw, you should see how skee-rood we are in Canada with companies charging WAY more for stuff... just because they can, nothing to do with the tiny difference in exchange rate between USD vs. CAD. Lawmakers are starting to introduce bills to try and put a stop to this. The companies get away with it because Canadians are too polite, complacent or something to make a fuss. Look at USA Newegg price for the same set. Keep in mind, the US dollar is about the same as the Canadian dollar.

Anyway, I've got that question about "fast" above, if anyone would like to explain why more expensive MAY mean better for what I do.

You don't get many ratings in those RAMs because only a handful of people buy 32 {4x8} GB modules at once... if you look at their 16GB or 8GB kits you will find more ratings.
All of the RAMs that I or someone somewhere mentioned here are very good quality RAMs and all of them are better than yours in terms of latency.. You can take any one of them and you will be fine...

RAM speed is determined by their Frequency and for DDR3 RAM it can vary typically between 1066-2400 MHz. You might think that getting a higher frequency ram for a much premium price would make your system run fast but in real life it actually doesn't.
You will get the most performance for the money you are spending if you stay within 1600-1866 MHz range with Latency 9 or better, 8. Anything above that is not worth spending..
