I was wondering is better for me to run... adaptive vsync or just have it "on" in the nvidia control panel..

Or should I have it off and just use the game's in game vsync?

Solution
Yeah the GTX 770 is a beast! The bottom line is: Use in-game Vsync if tearing bothers you but don't use anything in multiplayer. Why? Because Vsync almost always increases input lag, which may not bother you at all in single player but will leave you at a slight disadvantage in multiplayer.
Well in-game is the simplest. I'm assuming your build can't run all games at max settings above 60 fps so if you do use the Nvidia control panel make sure to configure each of your games individually. I'd advice you to try different things out and see what works with your setup since some games work better with normal Vsync and others with adaptive Vsync.

Hmmm so i turned off vsync in nvidia control panel and in game and then restarted my titanfall game but it still is locking me to 60 fps... oh well i def do need the 770 cause i hate when my fps drops below 60!!

So it's off in-game and in the Nvidia control panel (both global and program settings)? And it's still capped?

On a side note: I just checked a few threads and it seems a lot of people are having tearing in Titanfall. If you're going to use Vsync, this game seems to work better with the Nvidia control panel version than the in-game version.

vsync can limit your FPS however it could also be your screen limiting it, I find that adaptive Vsync works like a dream for me, I have a 780 though so I get 99999 FPS on everything :D
So yeah I would recommend adaptive if that works for you as it does tend to limit your fps less than normal vsync. As for multi-player games I don't believe it does really alter your performance at all as imput lag isn't really a thing, its more like output lag really as with the delay for your screen to display is the thing that delays your reaction time, when you click for example that is sent out to the server at the speed of your connection and then your screen displays that you have done it which doesn't influence your reaction at all. Its a little complicated but yeah

Thanks

Well the point still remains the same: Vsync works with some games and some games it makes hard to play and laggy.

There was a new driver released for Nvidia a couple of weeks ago, Titanfall is still in a bit of a beta as well, it is possible that it is a glitch within the game, maybe try testing other games

Right now I am using a two monitors. They are 21.5" and running at 1920x1080. I just dont want to get it and be disappointed my titanfall and battlefield 4 is dipping lowerer than 60 fps on medium settings!

Yeah but like multiple screen gaming(Nvidia surround). But you don't have to worry about that since surround requires 3 screens anyway.

A 770 would probably suit you fine even with 2 screens, I considered buying a 770 but I ended up saving up and getting a 780 and it is a dream, runs my 4 screens max setting on god damn everything at 120 FPS while recording and I get to feel like The Jesus of Graphics, so yeah I would say it is worth saving up but my opinion is biased because I love my 780 and I Stroke it creepily

And I take my 780 to bed with me every night.....jks but I like it ;)

Hope that didn't give you even more indecision

Thanks
Me

P.S I lied, I hope you spend the entire night trying to decide which GPU to get

Yea I only use one monitor for gaming and the other screen I use for other things like watching youtube during intermissions an checking my chat room while streaming!

Yeah it'll run like a dream since you're not doing any graphics-heavy computing on your other screen.

Driver vsync is alot smoother than in game vsync. Turn in game vsync off and just turn vsync on through the driver. Adaptive vsync is good it smooths games out even more but it's a bit buggy you still get screen tearing in some games even if you get constant 60fps resident evil 4 for example constant 60 fps but still screen tears with adaptive vsync. Also putting pre rendered frames to 1 gets rid of stuttering and reduces input lag. Driver vsync works with 99% of games that I have played all 270 of them the only game it hasn't worked with is theif but you can easily just turn vsync on through settings. Driver vsync on + 1 pre rendered frame = silky smooth. Hope this helps.
