The main advantage of an SSD is that it's fast, quiet and lower power. Downside is that they're pricey and small (storage-wise.) I have a setup with my OS on the SSD and my game files on a big spin driver. I've never noticed a lot of difference in my gaming, but my machine certainly boots faster and is quieter.

It comes down to whether or not you have the money to spend and if you think it's worth it. The tech is still pretty young, in my opinion, so for a lot of people it's not worth the cost. That being said, I have three machines with them right now, and the boot speed and responsiveness of the OS is very nice.

AS mentioned above, an SSD will just boot/load/access files and applications faster. Personally, I don't think I could ever go back to an HDD for my boot/apps drive. It's just a nicer experience and when I want to do something, I don't wait long for it to happen. I still keep data on a HDD. The down side is the cost per GB is much higher and you may find the need to manage your apps and file more than if you had just a big ol HDD.

My opinion is that if you are trying to budget and get the most gaming performance out of your machine, this should be very low on your list. If you use your machine for a lot more than gaming, you may find an SSD to be a great component and worth every penny. The real advantage on an SSD is random access times. On a HDD its mechanical and you need to wait for the read/write heads on an actuator arm to jump around the spindle to get all your data. In an SSD, it is all electronic so that random access time is almost negligible since there are no moving parts. It also reads/writes faster in most cases than an HDD.

I recently upgraded to an i7-4770K and did a lot of research for my needs. For the most part it falls under what features are important to you. For me it was OC ability. I wasn't concerned about built in WiFi, Thunderbolt, a lot of onboard video outputs, or extra USB ports. I did want to see if I couldn't find a good onboard audio card as my old Creative Labs PCI card probably wouldn't work on a new board as most don't have PCI slots. I ended up going with the ASUS Maximus VI HERO. It is part of the ROG series and has all the OC components except lacks some extra features, which keep the price down. It does have one of the best onboard audio setups out there and I must say it powers my headphones very well. Therefore, I'd recommended the Hero if you want to OC.

I have liked the new Antec TruePower Classic PSU's. They are Gold certified and really are nice. You can get away with the 550W, but if you want some room to maybe add a second 770 at some point or just room to play I'd go with the 650W.

PC cases choices have a lot of personal preference put into them. I can't really recommend one, but here is one to start off your search. It's clean and nice with an instant rebate and MIR as well.

As far as RAM goes, you really only need 8GB for gaming right now, but why not put in 16GB just in case you need it a year or two down the road. You wanted to build for the future. That is what i did. This set has a rebate code for 15% off.
