GTX 780 won't allow my PC to turn on

Hi guys, last month I started building a set of PC's for my small dev team but a month later one of the machines turned off without warning and when I pressed the power button nothing happened, not even the fans twitched.

After swapping bits out from the other machines I found it is the GPU causing the problems, it's a Gigabyte GTX 780 Windforce. I have seen many threads like this but none come up with an actual solution, so to help narrow things down, IT IS NOT A PSU PROBLEM, nor a motherboard problem or anything else, I have the pc working with another card now and have tested this in many other machines.

I want to know,
1. How do I find out what is wrong with the card, if I can find out at all.
2. Can I fix it at home?

It sounds bizarre because all the other threads have old cards with useless power supplies and this is all new hardware?

The specs are
i7 3930 6 core
Gigabyte 780 Windforce
12GB Ram
MSI X79A-GD45 PLUS LGA2011

So Sorry about your card friend, the 780 is a beast. Sounds like youve done everything you can to diagnose things...I would RMA the card to Gigabyte. Pretty much nothing you can do to "fix" a bad GPU.

Let's not give up that fast...what card are you using that WORKS in the system? It another 780? Even if the GPU is bad, it would probably still boot and give you a bluescreen, graphical artifacts, or show no display. But it doesn't make sense to me that system shows no signs of life at all for a GPU problem.

Ok, so the other card I'm using with the machine is an EVGA GTX 780 ACX SC. In two of my other machines I'm using Gigabyte 780's no problem.

With this "Dead Card" I get nothing.

Ok, so it definitely is a graphics card problem. And a very strange one at that! I don't often see graphics cards causing a system to just "not turn on". Try booting up the system without any power connectors attached to the graphics card. It will likely give you a message saying the card does not have power connectors attached. If it still does not boot, inspect the PCIe interface to make sure there are no broken contact points or shorts.

Having a very similar issue. I'm hoping my gtx 780 HOF didnt just randomly die after 6 months of solid Nvidia Surround use.

My GTX 780 is not being detected in my Device Manager. My old HD 7850 is recognized. But not the GTX 780 in the PCIe slot above it. I have tried resetting cmos and different PCIe slots. I have also tried a 600w Coolermaster PSU. It has two 12v rails that max at 18A. I dont believe that PSU has enough voltage my 780. Anyway, I got the same result as my 1000w Lightning. The 780s fans would spin and the lights would flash but nothing would display.

Specs:
Fx 8320
GTX 780 HOF
Rosewill 1000w Lightning
Gigabyte 990FXA UD3 Mobo

Should I buy a new PSU or is all hope lost for my GTX 780?
