So I have a philips TV that I just connected to my PC via an HDMI cable but the picture is all grainy and discolored.
I tried using my DVI - HDMI cable to connect but no difference there. I had this exact problem on the samsung i had before but then i could just change the label of the HDMI channel to PC and the grainy picture would dissapear but on this even when i rename on this TV there is no change (on this TV you have to manually write what you want to name it and not choose from presets so I dont think it effects it). I have also tried both the HDMI 1 and the HDMI 2 slot but no difference. I have checked into the settings of the TV to see if there are any sort of settings that seem to change it but nothing.

I dont have the manual for the TV so I cant look into that.

I have googled this and it seems to be extremely common and still I cannot find a solution.

Please help me!

There are several very simple things you can try.

1) In the video settings in television's menu you may find OVERSCAN. Turn that off.
2) You may also find GAME MODE. Turn that on.
3) Update the drivers for your GPU. If it is integrated graphics you'll find the drivers on the processor manufacturer's website, or if it is a discrete card you'll find it on the card manufacturer's website.

There are also things you can do to eliminate the computer's components as the problem.

1) If you are using a discrete graphics card (one that fits into a slot on the motherboard) unplug the cabling from there and plug into the output integrated into the motherboard (you should find that slot high on the back of the case, parallel to the motherboard). If this fixes the problem then there is something wrong with the graphics card.

2) The same as number one. But this time remove the graphics card and all of its associated software. This will also indicate whether the graphics card has compatibility problems with your chosen display device.

Best of luck to you.

Okay so i looked around in the tv settings but found nothnig called overscan there was however a mode called game but its only a preset that changes the colors around abit so it didnt change much. My drivers on the graphics card are updated.

So unfortunatly I am still without a solution. I thank you for the answer however.
