According to the motherboard specifications for your computer (found on HP's website: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01080268&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en#N55), that CPU should work. However, this is an older computer, and you may not get the desired performance increase you are looking for.

i dont do much, i use this at my desk 8 hours a day for google chrome web browsing, a network connection to our sales store and hi-rez audio playback, it's the audio playback missing or skipping on occasion that i am trying to cure. i have added a couple gb of ram and upgraded to windows 7 64bit very cheaply. I can get this cpu for under 30 bucks shipped. total spent including the computer is about 175. until i can set aside $750 for a new tower or $350 ish for a MB/CPU/RAM combo this will have to do. thanx
