I'm done with console gaming... That being said, I have been looking into the choice of buying a full rig or "building my own" (i.e. buying the components and having a very qualified friend put it together for me). The task is daunting to say the least. I know I can get more if I just buy components but trying to find all the best prices and exactly what I need/want and whether they will all work together is out of my league.

Here is What I want to do with the highest FPS possible in my budget:

Play Arma 3 and various mods
DayZ Standalone
The Division
(I really only play Multiplayer FPS, do not need this comp for school or anything other than gaming)
Team Speak, Steam, maybe a little capture but no editing, rendering etc..

Things I am told I should have:
i7 line CPU
GTX 770
16 Gb DDR3
Liquid Cooling

The rest I am clueless on... Any help appreciated!

Budget for just the tower (no screen, KB, Mouse:$1200 USD

Solution
The Core i7s are overkill for 1080p gaming, save a little money and go with an i5 4670k--lot's of overclocking headroom and a socket with a solid upgrade path. The 770 video card is great and when it starts to be slow way down the line you can add another 770 and SLI them.

Building your own PC just looks daunting, but it's really not--just go slow and follow a youtube guide or something and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the input! I have been told that the games I am interested in are CPU intensive as opposed to Video Card intensive and an i7 was the way to go. Maybe they were wrong?

Arma III and DayZ are both CPU and GPU heavy--but that i5 is more than enough to handle those games and any CPU intensive games.

The i7 would give you maybe 5% better performance in those games--not worth it IMHO.

Could I upgrade this to 16Gb DDR3?
