I just start building my second pc. I'm quite sure I have everything plug in correctly. When my PSU's 24 pin cable is connected to the motherboard, the fan on the psu turns on but not the computer(keep in mind that I wasn't trying to turn the computer on). When I disconnect the 24 pin cable, it then turns off. So when my computer is off or on, the PSU is on. It will not turn off. I have a GIGABYTE 990FXA-UD3 motherboard.

I don't have a GPU in the system at the time because i'm waiting for that to come in the mail but that shouldn't be the problem.

Okay first I need your computers specs. Second never unplug the 24pin connector from any motherboard when it is plugged into the outlet! You will ruin your components. Third try holding down the power button until the fans stop spinning. You cannot just push the button and expect it to turn off when there is no os installed. You have a lot to learn still.

Keep in mind, i'm not a beginner; I don't know what you interpreted from my question.

My specs are:

GIGABYTE 990FXA-UD3
FX 8350
16 gb 1866 g-skill ram
That's it.

I've never unplugged the 24pin cable from the mobo when the system was on.

I was just playing around with the power connectors (play as in a metaphor) and discovered when I unplugged my multi input device from the molex cable from the PSU, it turns it off when it should be off. SO the problem is with the multi input device in my 5.25 bay (lets you plug in SD cards of all sizes and more USB ports.)

As of right now, with the molex cable unplugged from it, my system turns off and on like it should but the thing is.... i've used this same device with my crosshair v formula motherboard and it never did this.
