Solution

With T-Mobile and Sprint you can Remote Desktop to your office computer via Teamviewer/TQS, this app supports iphone 4/5 (iOS 6/7) and Samsung Galaxy 3/4/Note2/Note3 smartphones (Android 4.2/4.3). I'm not sure about others carrier and smartphone brand, Teamviewer works on T-mobile/Sprint LTE because some of our IT personal are using it (not primary) and they're able to RD.

also are you sure your office PC has an IP address that can be seen from out side the local network ?

You would need to have a static IP address or at least be able to access your office PC from any workstation that is not on the local network.

How are you RDP to your office desktop from your phone? You can do it when both devices are on the same network, if you're outside of network you'll need VPN setup or using remote software such as Teamviewer, LogMeIn to able to control remote desktop.

Hi there! Nice thread. I also want to be able over my phone and on mobile data to control my PC remotely. It DOES work with TeamViewer (as noted in the best solution) but could anyone explain to me why it does not work with RealVNC?

This is a very old post and technology has likely changed. The key reason it does not work in most cases is you do not have a dedicated routable IP address. Many mobile broadband providers are using what is called carrier NAT because of the shortage of IPv4 addresses.

OK, thanks for your input. I just find it odd to see that TeamViewer has no problem remote controlling my PC over mobile data, but RealVNC can only do it over WiFi but not over Mobile Data ... I've always favoured RealVNC over TeamViewer and LogMeIn .. but ...

Well... I know that and that is why I've always avoided Team viewer ... Does the traffic for RealVNC go through a central server as well?

What does that mean? Looking at the question I asked I am having a hard time getting what u mean with this. Does it mean that RealVNC requires port mapping and therefore it won't work over Mobile Data. Or does it mean that RealVNC's traffic does not go through a central server.

Not sure if this helps, but I was using Teamviewer for years with T-mobile and this May 2017 it just stopped connecting to the TeamViewer Server (it wouldn't sign in). I switched the preferred network type from 4g LTE to 3g on my phone and it allowed me to sign in.
