Getting my parts list together for my build and with regards to cooling my Intel i5 I'm looking into either one of these:

Cooler Master Hyper 212 evo
Corsair Hydro Series H105

Overclocking isn't a given for me but that's not to say that I won't. I'm curious to know which of the two would provide the best cooling solution with all things being equal. Meaning that while the units coms with their own fans I would be willing to upgrade the fans of either solution for top performance.

Thanks.

Yep, apples and oranges to compare air and liquid. the Hyper 212 is amazing for an air cooler, but even an amazing air cooler has trouble keeping up with an entry level liquid cooler. I use air just because it's cheaper and less maintenance. I'd recommend the Hyper 212 for value

The H105 will give you better temperatures. The H100i does about 6C better(10.1), and the H100 does about 4C(12.1) better than the Hyper 212+ evo(15.9) in the frostytech review. The fans aren't identical, but they are close enough, you are more defined by the surface area of the heatsink and the ability to move heat to the fins. The H105 will do about 6-7C better than the hyper 212 evo but it will also cost you 3.3x as much so its kind of a trade off.

Price for the better cooling solution isn't an issue. It seems the liquid cooling will be the better solution for me as per the replies here. Thank you all for your input as it helped make this decision easier.

Thanks.
