Hey all, I recently purchased a Fractal R4 case and Gigabyte 780ti Windforce, upon installing my components into the new case and putting the card in I heard coil whine on high FPS or high stress situations in game, which I didn't have previously with my 680 reference.

Anyway, I RMA'd the 780ti figuring that was the issue, but after reinstalling my 680 it is still present, the sound seemingly coming from my GPU still. Now, if my 680 had made this sound within my duration of owning it I would know, this is the first time. If I remove my 680/780 and run on-board graphics the sound is still present, albeit much quieter.

I don't understand whats altered to cause this issue, but I assume it's the PSU? its a Corsair TX 850w, my 780ti was due to be picked up tomorrow for an RMA, but I'm not sure it's worth it considering surely it cannot be the problem if my 680 is also whining now?

Thank-you in advance. :)

coil whine isnt an issue, ALOT of graphics cards make that noise even the best brands, although... from my personal experience ive only ever heard it when running the windows experience index. either way i would say keep your 780ti as likely the next one will make that noise too, i would only return it if the coil whine happens alllll the time, which it shouldnt.

It's present consistently with the 780 and 680, and if it were the 780 I shall return it regardless of whats average/normal or companies don't learn...it cost enough to expect it to run relatively silently imo.

What I'm confused about is how has my system having the same components as prior (when I install my 680 again) have coil whine when for the past year or two it hasn't? I'm at a loss to an explanation.
