Hey everyone.. I currently have the AMD FX 4300, and also the GeForce GTX 760. Unfortunately I bought the M5A97 2.0 board and it's not compatible with my GPU. Well maybe it is maybe it isn't.. Kinda confused on that.

The board has PCIE 2.0 compatibility and my card is, unfortunately, a 3.0. I'm wondering if there is backwards compatibility with 3.0 cards and 2.0 boards. But that's not really why I made this thread..

I know there is ONE board that has the AM3+ socket and takes PCIE 3.0 cards (Sabertooth 990), but it's really expensive. So I'm wondering if hopefully there is another option (Cheaper!) that will take my current hardware.
Thanks for your time and help.

Any version card works with any version slot. But 3.0 is kind of about future proofing. Current cards can't even saturate a 2.0 connection, so having a 3.0 card isn't any different than having a 2.0 card. The new AMD cards that crossfire over PCIE lanes are about the only place where you might need 3.0

Wow sorry..
I forgot to mention that for some reason my 3.0 cards aren't working.
I went and checked out my computer and was told the cards aren't compatible. I just assumed that it's the PCIE version. If it's not that then what is it? This is my first build, so sorry for the noob questions everyone.
