I need a better CPU, my Intel R Core 2Duo isn't good enough, I keep on getting shutter lag/freezing.

I have a Amd Radeon HD 7700 too. The video card is fine, I guess.

The real question im asking is, what CPU should I get thats about under 100 USD and it'll fit a Dell optiplex 360 motherboard?

thanks.

Solution
nothing really. Its a socket 775 and you can't really buy a new CPU for that for less than 100 that will fix your problems.

sorry to say this but i also think that they stop making CPU's that fit that socket.

Honestly just save up your money, grab a athlon x4 760k, a cheap mobo and some ram. If you already have DDR3 ram, reuse it. Since you are using a prebuilt pc you are gonna need to buy windows though...

Without windows you are looking at spending around 150 without ram, with a standard set of 2x2gb its around 175.

If you can return that 7700 and get your money back you would likely be a prime candidate for an APU. The athlon x4 760k + 7700 would perform better though.

Not really no. FX4300 isn't a very good proc tbh. Specially not for that price.

(not saying this one but something like this one would be a good bet. PSU is a bit lame at only 300w)

whats the APU?

Its not. Thats actually slower than your current one.

If you absolutely cannot upgrade the PC then the fastest CPU for a 775 socket (assuming it has a compatible chipset) is the Core 2 Quad. Which, while better than what you have, isn't very good by todays standards.

I just want to stop freezing, will that CPU stop the freezing?

I'm not 100% sure but probably. BF4 does perform better with quad cores. Open up task manager and check whats at 100% usage when the freezing occurs. (performance tab)

Oh noooo not the Pentium D it's one of the first dual core which in fact isn't really a true dual core but two single cores glued together.

Microcenter has been selling the AMD 8320 for $100 and you can bundle a motherboard and RAM for ~$150 total. That would be your best, cheapest route. You could then update your GPU when you have the cash. If you really don't wanna spend much cash at all, find a Core2Quad that will work in your rig. It will certainly help your issue as BF4 likes as many threads as it can get.

Offtopic!

"I just want to stop freezing, will that CPU stop the freezing?"...

Why I never meet anyone with this type of problem in game so I can get a few easy kills. Everyone I ever meet seem to be running BF4 on a $4000 machine lol
