Computer Died On Me

I'm having the age-old issue of, "Help me! My computer will not work!" Issue is, I've had it up to my neck with this bloody thing. I'd like some help to diagnose the exact problem with it.

My exact issue is as follows: I was using my computer for a few hours and accidentally left it on when I went out to get dinner. I came back a few hours later, powered on the monitor, and checked my email. Firefox crashed about five times, then I received a delightful blue screen. I'm afraid I can no longer recall the exact error message. I was too distraught to write it down.
Either way, when I attempted to press the reset button, the computer did not respond. Same deal with holding down the power button. So I pressed the kill switch in the back, then brought it back on. Now, while the computer does start, there's no video response, and the hard drive doesn't power up. The power lights are on, the fan spins, and the DVD drive makes a noise as if it's reading something, but the noise just keeps repeating.

I believe the motherboard is fried, but would like to know for certain if it's something on my end. I did check the troubleshooting guide, but found no discrepancy with how I put everything together.

This is the first computer I've put together by myself after my last one died (that one worked for about four years before doing the SAME THING), but all the parts were replaced except for the chassis and DVD drive. Also, the bloody thing worked for an entire month before it fried, so I figure if I plugged something in wrong I would have known before now.

My specs are:

Antec Basiq 430W power unit
AMD A-Series Accelerated Processing Unit (graphics card is onboard)
Pacific Sun Memory 4GB RAM card (just one)
A55BM-E ASUS motherboard
WD Caviar Green 1 TB SATA Drive

Again, I think it's the motherboard, but I'm curious as to how this has happened. There was no power surge, and even if there was the computer was plugged into a surge protector, the issue doesn't seem to be tied to the hard drive (I tried with a secondary drive and received no different reaction), and the power does seem to be reaching the motherboard. But there's just no change on the monitor. I built this thing a little over a month ago, and now I'm losing my mind here. Anyone know if there's a way I can tell if it's just the motherboard or power unit, or if there's a way I can salvage this? I'd really appreciate it.

Sorry for the long post, but I need all the help I can get. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Solution
Try taking out the battery on the motherboard for 10 minutes and see if that helps (disconnecting power supply power cord also).. Look to see if you can physically see anything wrong with the motherboard but I really dont see a problem with leaving a computer on, mine stays on nearly 24/7..

I'll give it a try and try to keep my blood pressure down. Thanks for the suggestion, but I figure I'm a bit doomed.

EDIT: It still doesn't work, but now the power button can turn it off and on. Before it couldn't turn off. Also, the DVD drive isn't making the weird noises it was before. Still no video change.
