Hello all, I'm in the process of creating my parts list for when I build my computer within about 4 to six week. I have multiple iterations of builds but these are my two main builds:

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3cmYK
Benchmarks: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3cmYK/benchmarks/

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($209.00 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.99 @ NCIX US)

Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($144.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($69.99 @ Amazon)

Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 2GB Video Card ($249.99 @ NCIX US)

Case: Corsair Carbide Series 300R Windowed ATX Mid Tower Case ($77.98 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair Builder 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($49.99 @ Newegg)
Case Fan: NZXT Air Flow Series 83.6 CFM 140mm Fan ($13.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Case Fan: LEPA LP70D12R 120mm Fan ($7.19 @ Amazon)
Total: $838.10

Or:

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3cmJQ

CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor ($189.99 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.99 @ NCIX US)
Thermal Compound: Arctic Cooling MX-2 4g Thermal Paste ($4.98 @ OutletPC)

Motherboard: MSI 970A-G46 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($69.99 @ Micro Center)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($69.99 @ Amazon)

Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 770 2GB Video Card ($329.99 @ Micro Center)

Case: Corsair Carbide Series 300R Windowed ATX Mid Tower Case ($77.98 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Thermaltake SMART 750W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($54.99 @ Micro Center)
Case Fan: Prolimatech PRO-RV14LED 87.0 CFM 140mm Fan ($11.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $839.89

I have several questions but the most important ones are: will the cooling be adequate? Will the system be able to run games like Planetside 2, WoT, and Skyrim on high-max settings? Are the CPU coolers adequate for OC'ing? Is the motherboard good for overclocking? And lastly, are there any parts that you recommend I change out, change manufacturer, skip, etc?
This will be my first gaming build btw so I'm just nervous about it as building a home-use desktop is a bit different. Thanks for the help!

Looks like you did a good job. If you can scrounge up another $80.00, I'd go intel with the 770 GPU. You're not going to need to buy the extra fans, so there's a little money saved. The case will come with its own fans. You could also save a little on the case. So knock those items off and you'd be looking at an extra $50.00 or so to go intel with the 770.

Other than that, both rigs are nice and will overclock without an issue. They will both run games very well, though the 770 GPU is much more powerful than the 760. The 760 is still a great card.

Have fun!

I would go with the I5 3670k. The only thing that I would do is change it to the 4670k because o believe that it is the same price. The Intel build will ultimately give you more frames in Planetside 2 and others. That Cpu cooler is fine for some slight overclocking but for major overclocking I would suggest going with watercooling. Other than rhat, you're fine :)
