The budget Samsung SyncMaster S20B300 that I purchased alongside my desktop two years ago is now unfortunately suffering from a broken pixel. I wouldn't be concerned if the pixel was in a place that isn't too noticeable, but unfortunately it's smack bang in the centre of the monitor.

I've tried software, as well as poking and prodding, to try and fix it but unfortunately this is to no avail. It's still covered by warranty but that unfortunately involves sending it into Samsung to get repaired and I have no idea how long that would take. I use my computer and this monitor for all sorts of things, especially work, and I wouldn't be able to use it during this time which would be detrimental.

Since the S20B300 isn't a 1080p monitor and is small in stature compared to a lot of other budget monitors, this seems like as good a time as any to upgrade.

I'm considering three different monitors at the moment, with suggestions welcome. These include the Benq RL2455HM, Asus VE248H and Samsung S24C300H.

I was thinking it would be a good idea to purchase a new monitor, send the S20B300 out to get serviced and then when it comes back have it handy as a spare in case something similar happens to the new .

I can buy the Asus and Samsung for the same price of $184 AUD from an eBay vendor or the Benq from my local electronics store for $198 AUD. While the eBay vendor has plenty more options than the electronics store and is certainly much cheaper, I was given a voucher a little while ago that now contains about $85 AUD or so that's valid for use in the electronics store which would mean I would pay less for the Benq overall, so I'm more inclined to go for that over the others. However, from the reviews that I've researched, most claim that the picture quality of the Benq is noticeably worse than other monitors they've seen. Since I'm upgrading from the very cheap S20B300, would that quality even be noticeable for me, or in fact, would the Benq be even better?

I use my computer for a variety of things, including word processing for work, but in my spare time I mostly surf the internet, play RPGs and watch anime.

It would be greatly appreciated if somebody gave me some insight into these monitors and opinions on which one is better over the other.
