So I recently built a whole new computer and once everything was installed I began to notice a major problem that happens at seemingly random intervals. My screen freezes, it's not a simple error message or crash but the screen simply freezes as if frozen still. The computer accepts no commands from peripherals but they still act as if connected with lights and everything.

Nothing besides resetting or powering off the pc manually solves the issue. I can't ctr/alt/dlt, I can't alt/tab or anything within the pc to try and resolve the issue. When my PC boots back up I have no error messages nor do I have any evidence that such issue has occurred.

It's not a heat issue from what all the monitors show, my GPU is well between 30-65c with minimal and full workload. My cpu runs between 3-30c.

I've narrowed it down to not being the RAM or the OS, I've used alternate RAM and the issue persists. Plus I've reinstalled Windows with a fresh clean install.

My build:
AMD FX-9590
Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z
CORSAIR Dominator Platinum (4x4)16GB 2400
AMD Radeon Asus R9 290x DC2
ASUS ROG RAIDR Express PCI-E 240GB SSD (OS)
WD 3TB Black
Thermaltake 1000W PSU
Windows 8.1 Pro
Nortion AV (I've never had a problem with them, used them since the dawn of mankind)

Othernotes:
I've since re-installed my OS and cleaned up any issues I previously had with the OS.

I've done a fresh clean install with a copy of window's 8.1, however this didn't rectify the issue.
I'm not looking to roll back to window's 7 after I've invested in parts that are optimized for 8.

Anyone have more suggestions to help me fix the problem?

ok i have the same problem with windows 7,i have the same mobo and cpu. This cpu runs extremely hot in idle mode,i brought my pc to a technician and we tested the corsair hydro series h100i since then i have no problem for 10 days.I don't think that is software problem just cpu temperature.Monitor your cpu temperature you should have maximum 70 75 celsius in full load

My CPU doesn't go over 40c with a full workload.

Since I swapped RAM the issue has persisted, but Bios currently has the RAM set to 1600mhz. The RAM I'm using now has never had an issue in the older PC either.

It's Corsair Vengence 1866 32 GB, I only have 16GB in however. (2x8)

I've been testing my PC using Prime95 (CPU) and 3Dmark (GPU) To help discover which piece of hardware may be failing.

Both came back showing no issues or errors.

I'm narrowing it down to either my mobo or my Gpu however, does anyone know of good programs to test these components for errors? Besides 3D Mark for the Gpu?
