More about possibilities running windows thumb drive usb sata adapter
  1. Do you mean to actually run Windows from it, or run Windows Setup from it (installation)?

You can't actually run Windows from any external storage device because Windows will not install to such devices.

If you mean installing Windows from a thumb drive, why can't you plug it directly in to a USB port on the computer?

i guess my question is, is there any way to get windows to think it's like any other drive, or is windows innately programmed to detect different types of drives and only install to internal drives?
