I Have been looking at getting a new rig of almost a year now and have came to some conclusions about what I want from my rig. I want to be able to play the latest games at 1080p on ultra-high settings. I am also interested in making small games on unity (think slender etc.).
The CPUs that I have decided on are:
AMD fx 8350 or Intel i5 4670k - (motherboard to match)

but I still don't know what graphics card to get the R9 280x or the GTX 770.
The R9 280X has more V-ram and with the increase in demand for V-ram by newer games such as BF4 I feel like it mat become needed in the future. Yet the GTX 770 has a higher clock speed.
Would like to hear peoples opinions on the CPU and GPU or suggested builds.
Thanks : )

Solution
if you play games on dual or tri monitors, more v-ram would help but on single monitor i suggest to go with gtx 770 because the higher clock speed is the better performance
Clock speed is a really useless measure between anything but differently OCed cards. Architecture +number of cores matters more.

That said, the 770 is slightly faster than the 280X, but not much.

Currently the AMD cards are a bit overpriced because of Litecoin, so I'd probably go for the 770.

Well it depends on your budget, for example:
8350+ 990FX motherboard is about 290$
4670k + Z87 motherboard is about 350$
8350+ GTX770 is 460$
4670k+ GTX760 is also 460$
Choose accordingly to your budget, both 8350 and 4670k are great processors for gamnig.
Also if you live in USA, GTX 770 is much cheaper GPU. Or wait for the R9 280 (non X) it will be overclocked 7950 also with 3GB of VRAM, and it will cost 270-280$
