Hi all,

Am receiving an error message about 50% of the time when I exit out of Black Ops 2. As stated in the title it is the "Windows has detected this computers performance is slow etc".

Currently I am pushing to triple monitors (5840x1080) with a single Gigabyte GTX 770 4gb. (My second one is coming at some stage).

I have read posts that state this is due to running low on VRAM, is this the case?

I am currently getting an easy 70-80 fps in Black Ops 2 at max settings so I don't think It is running that slow and as such I don't want to switch of Aero and back to basics as was windows suggested.

Is there anything short term I can do to fix this or will it just be a nuisance until i get my second card for SLI?

Regards

Solution
The shortage of VRAM is likely given your setup. The processor on the 770 may be perfectly capable of processing the resolution you demand. But a game like black-ops will use 2G of VRAM on a single display if it is provided. So everything you describe makes sense: you get good frame rates because you have a very capable GPU, you get the error message because you are spreading 4G of RAM over a space of pixels that would be better accommodated by 6G.

Short term solution: Reduce the number of displays until the new card arrives - or - (and I'm not too confident this will achieve anything) reduce the graphics settings in-game.

I wish you luck, and get that second card soon.

Fair enough, I suspected as much.

Since It is currently performing admirably with no framerate loss, stuttering, or anything unsatisfactory I shall just put up with the error message in the meantime.

Thanks for your reply

Hi
I get this sometimes with Civ V and after doing some research it appears to be the way the game is coded to overlay windows.
While the game is running, Windows attempts another operation which of course goes slowly because most of your system resources are being used by the game and so when you exit the game you see the pop-up,and of course when you have exited the game Windows will then run at full speed.
It appears to be nothing to worry about as it is just a strange glitch between Windows and the game and both run fine individually.
