What would make more sense for gaming on High or Ultra at 1440p for hopefully the next 2 years at least?
1 Gtx 780 Ti or
2 Gtx 770's in SLI

or would you maybe suggest some other solution?

I would probably prefer a Nvidia card but wouldn't say no to AMD

This x2 in crossfire x.

"Price-wise, the R9 290 is closer in price to the GTX 770 than it is the GTX 780. There is a $70 price difference between the GTX 770 and R9 290. However, compared to the GTX 780, the R9 290 is a whole $100 less expensive than the GeForce GTX 780. Performance-wise, the R9 290 is on par with the GeForce GTX 780. The R9 290 is a much better performer than the GTX 770 or Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition. The R9 290 is providing the performance of GTX 780, at $100 less cost. The value favors the AMD Radeon R9 290 in an epic way. The Radeon R9 290 provides the most value for...

whats the money situation, its a really big deal for this cause 1440p id gonn arequire one hell of a single card or two decently expensive cards. And although you will save money buying two cards, not all games are compatible in crossfire and SLI

the most beastly single card you can find will you be the best choice, as for the price and such though thats up to you. Also, if you alrdy have your gaming set up, i would wait for some of the flagship maxwell GPU's to launch even if you dotn buy one, the price of the current flagship (gk110) is gonna go down when the new silicon hits the market.

It's more expensive but, better cooling. Yeah. I think it's enough with 2, or even buy NZXT's own block and mount it with a Corsair H60 or smthing.

There is something about sli/crossfire that scares me. That's really why I'd prefer a single card hence why I was thinking the 780ti, best non-ridiculous priced card atm
